Sellers Signing Escrow Papers With A Dog, My German Shepherd.
Seller signing escrow papers with a dog, my German Shepherd, at their side today was a sight to behold. This is not something I have ever done in over two decades of selling real estate. Well, there is a first for everything. I had booked an appointment today with the vet for my German Shepherd, Tangi at 9:45 AM with a quick chiropractor appointment for me after at 10: 00 AM. It is located 5 minutes from the vet’s office. What does all this have to do with a seller signing escrow papers with a dog? Well, everything.
I drop off Tangi at 9:45 at the Vet in Elk Grove. I hear her nervous whine, and she looks back at me, not wanting to go back with the vet tech. She boards at this facility, so I fear she thinks she is being abandoned. I dash off to my chiropractor, less than a mile away. I think ok everything is going to plan. I will finish up my chiropractic adjustment and then pick up Tangi to drop her off back at home. Then, I will head out to Placer title by 11:30 A.M. Sure, I can easily make my 12-noon seller signing with Placer title, NOT.
The traction equipment in my Chiropractor’s Office is in use so I’ll have to wait 15 minutes, they said. Well, it was more like 25. The chiropractor is backed up, so I wait to see him. I have not been in a few months, so the first thing he does is he gives me a bit of a lecture. It is Ok as I deserve it. Finally, the adjustment is complete. I schedule my next appointment and fly out the door to my car. I look at my watch. Shoot, I have 35 minutes to pick up Tangi and not enough time to drive her home.
I call the vet’s office and ask, “can I leave Tangi there for two extra hours? ” They say no as every single dog cage is booked due to owner summer vacations. Lots of dogs booked at his state of the art vet hospital and boarding center in June and July. So, I run in to pick up Tangi. I think I will have to drive to the seller signing appointment with my dog as I promised our client I would be there. I quickly pay for the blood test and grab Tangi’s leash as we have just enough time to make it downtown. Placer Title is located on K Street in Sacramento.
Tangi enjoys the ride to Downtown, from Elk Grove. I park underneath the building. I open the back seat and out hops Tangi. We make our way into the building to the elevator. Tangis first elevator ride and we exit the elevator on the third floor. There they are, sitting with the notary. I explain that I had to bring my dog or miss the signing. They pet the dog and thank me for coming. They expressed how much they appreciated my willingness to attend the signing no matter what the obstacles. As I watched them, they were busy signing escrow papers with a dog, my German Shepherd, and Tangi made their day even more special.

Monday Morning Off To The Sacramento Real Estate Race
Monday morning, off to the Sacramento real estate race. Our out of state sellers recently mailed us extra keys and garage door openers. I’m headed off to midtown Sacramento first thing, to drop off these items. It seems today is key day. One of our exclusive buyer’s agents, Carol Crestelo, drove to my house early this morning to pick up keys to a West Sacramento property. While dropping keys in midtown, I will be going to the hardware store to make spare keys for our new Land Park Listing on Marty Way, a coming soon property just a short walk away from the Tower Cafe. Garage Clean Up Days In Sacramento County
Garage clean up days in Sacramento county are exhausting, to say the least. My sister Cathie, and brother-in-law, Greg, worked all day yesterday taking everything out of our garage and piling it all onto the driveway. They cleaned the interior floor, dusted and mopped, then took down cobwebs. I had multiple real estate appointments yesterday, so when I arrived home at 8:00 PM, the front blacktop was covered with stuff. The picture above is after two days of cleaning, purging, recycling and shredding.
This picture above was taken after the clean out of our garage. Previously we had only a trail to walk through, much like walking through a maze of stuff to get to the back door from up the stairs. I worked all day on the garage today starting at 8:00 AM until this evening. As I was only able to help with my right hand so I sat in a chair while keeping my ankle elevated.
I worked consistently going through boxes to help get rid of excess junk. It is hard to believe we have our garage back. Everything we kept now has a function and a purpose– we all felt a bit like Marie Kondo on her Netflix television special, “tidying up.” This is my sister, Cathie, in the picture above. She was pointing to a cabinet where I was looking for a prized possession (lol) she had already put away.
Above you can see my brother in law, Greg. He is busy fixing our portable swamp cooler for the garage as Cathie is cleaning rugs and dusty doggie blankets today. These two deserved a medal for their efforts, but instead, I bought them fancy cheeseburgers to go, from the Sheldon Inn. Yesterday, the blacktop you see above, had wall to wall stuff piled everywhere. The contents of a three-car garage shared by two families so we had double the stuff of many people, that had accumulated over several years. It was piled high in the driveway. That stuff has now found new homes elsewhere. Lol.
We also share a pick-up truck that is now full of old garage items being donated. Also, the Escalade has a load of shredding material we will dispose of over the next few days. It gave all of us a real sense of accomplishment to tackle something that had seemed overwhelming for many months. Every box opened, then cleaned out and sorted, was reduced by just tackling one box at a time. The result was worth the time and energy. Today I knew I was going to blog about our day. A garage that needs a severe cleanout is something to which many people can relate.
Tips for cleaning out your garage, always plan ahead for a full weekend. Get family and or friends to help. First, empty the garage completely, then clean and mop the garage, don’t forget to remove the remove cobwebs. Next, make five stations: one for donating, for recycling, for shredding, for trash-out and one station for items to keep. Last, immediately load remaining items into your cars and or truck to donate and shred. Fill up all of your recycle cans.

Just Another Week In The Life Of A Busy Sacramento Realtor
Just another week in the life of a busy Sacramento Realtor. Can I tell you It has been a week from hell? From a broken computer, a broken color printer to a defunct camera and taking a bad fall, what a week. While attending a virtual tour shoot a few days ago, I fell off a concrete step.
I was standing backward at the time, talking to my sellers and the photographer. While trying to move out of the photographer’s way, I was taking a step back. Next thing I knew, wham, down on the concrete I tumbled. My ankle rolled over onto its side. Next, my wrist hits the ground to try and break my fall. Finally, the weight of my body onto my wrist sends a jolt up to my shoulder, ouch. Falling downward, felt like slow motion cinematography. I’m thinking to myself, “yup, I just fell down. “
Nothing was broken, but I did sprain my ankle, my wrist and banged up my shoulder. It was my left side, thank goodness. I’m right-handed, and my right foot is my driving foot so I can still function. Being a pretty good texter even with one hand. I find typing with one hand is not much different than texting. I’m not a great two-handed typist either, lol.
The sellers thought I was a trooper as I finished the shoot. I got up from the chair hobbled about for a moment but I could not stand the pain anymore. “Time to go home,” I said to my clients, ” the ankle is swelling, I need to go.” Driving home, my left foot was throbbing. The best thing to do is elevate my ankle, and load up my left side with ice packs. My assistant had to reschedule much of the afternoon. After a few hours on the ice, I went to a new listing appointment at 7:30 PM. The clients were very impressed as I hobbled up the stairs to look at their home (had a tight wrap on the ankle). It always can be worse, I thought.
Thank goodness nothing was broken. Arriving home after my last appointment at 9:00 PM, I quickly grabbed a bite of food. It was time to get back to work from the couch. Ice pack on the wrist, the ankle elevated and iced and the shoulder packed over with frozen peas. I had my laptop, my phones next to me and my camera card reader so that I could work a few more hours, from the couch. As a busy Sacramento Realtor, we cannot let anything get in our way.
” Just another week at work.” I’m sure you can relate. Afterward, of course, I’m thinking why were you wearing patent leather two-inch heels on an outdoor photo shoot? Hindsight is always 2020. The moral of the story, you can’t let things get in your way. As a busy Sacramento Realtor, you work around them, and multi-task to the best of your ability.

Both buyers and Realtors look for advertised open houses on Friday, to be ready for the weekend Saturday and Sunday opens.
