Silverado 4th of July Parade in Calistoga, California
While I am not a big fan of fireworks, I do love a good 4th of July parade in Calistoga, for example, and haven’t seen such a thing for decades. The only recollection I have of a 4th of July parade anywhere in my life is when I was a child. I guess my parents expected us to appear in the parade, for some odd reason, when my main purpose was to follow the clown tossing candy.
Below are photos I shot standing on Fair Way, just past Lincoln Av where the parade turned to head to the Napa County Fairgrounds. Just before we decided to head out of town and drive back to Sacramento. I hope you enjoy the slideshow. No audio for those of you at work.
I do recall the days when employees had to hide a modem under a desk, hoping nobody would hear that connection sound if a boss walked by your office door, for example. Because companies routinely monitored where employees could go online, and the only way to bypass that was to install a baud modem and disconnect from the Ethernet. If you wanted to watch a 4th of July Parade in Calistoga, for example, you had to do it at home if you didn’t have a modem available. But you didn’t hear that from me.
