Identity Theft in Sacramento Real Estate

Identity Theft in Sacramento Real Estate

Identity theft in Sacramento real estate is not something I have given much thought to until recently. It happens to other people but not to me or so I thought. Saturday, I received a few emails from agents out of state in Pennsylvania who said they received offers from me and were they real? I said, please forward it to me. The identity theft imposter was using an email very closely resembling my email, with just a few extra letters. Here the rub, I can only sell real estate in California as I don’t have a license in another state.

When I started responding to this a few days ago, I only received about 50 calls and emails from several states. I reported it to Google and put extra security on my phone and my credit. Therefore, I decided to also change passcodes and thought this should now stop. Wrong! Yesterday I received over 200 calls and emails. I could not answer the calls fast enough. These people were calling from Colorado and the hits kept coming. I was trying to present offers, write offers, walk a new home community and answer the phone. In short, it was a nightmare. I hope Google shuts this bogus email down asap. If not, it could double efforts to get back to everyone today. If so, how do I respond to 500 inquiries in a day?

This photo is a real picture of one of my German Shepherd pups all grown up and living in Utah. He is looking out like he is amazed at the beauty and splendor of the Utah mountains. I thought to use a beautiful photo as we all need something pretty to look at during these challenging days. I doubt identity theft in Sacramento real estate, is what this pup is thinking about.

Above all, with today’s low-interest rates, it’s a great time to buy a long term investment in real estate. Call Weintraub & Wallace Realtors with RE/MAX Gold Real Estate in Sacramento. We can be reached at 916-233-6759.
